Livelihood & Economic Development

Strengthening rural livelihoods by building skills, supporting local enterprises and creating sustainable economic opportunities for communities.

VVD works with communities to improve household livelihoods through agriculture, livestock, allied activities and locally appropriate income-generation opportunities.

Livelihood and economic development programme

Creating Sustainable Livelihood Opportunities.

Livelihood security is closely connected to the well-being and resilience of rural communities. Families need reliable sources of income, productive assets, practical skills and opportunities that can grow within their local environment.

VVD's Livelihood & Economic Development programme supports community members in strengthening existing livelihood practices while exploring new and sustainable income-generation opportunities.

The programme includes agriculture, livestock, horticulture and allied livelihood activities, with emphasis on practical skills, local participation and sustainable use of resources.

Stronger Livelihoods Build Stronger Communities.

Rural households often depend on agriculture, livestock and natural resources for their livelihoods. Limited market opportunities, access to skills, productive assets and changing environmental conditions can make household incomes vulnerable.

Sustainable livelihood development can strengthen household resilience, improve economic security and create opportunities for families to build a more stable future.
